Your Trip

Location, Location, Location

We want you to know that your day on the water with Cast Away isn’t “just” a fishing trip, but a hands-on seminar on walleye fishing the bountiful and historic waters of Lake Erie. Our personalized approach will help teach you the presentations and tactics used for catching trophy walleye for years to come.

Techniques such as lead core trolling, in-line planer boards, and despite divers will be taught along with seasonal movements and patterns. At Cast Away we make every effort to provide YOU with a successful fishing trip that is educational and most of all fun.

The use of a fully-rigged, Mercury-powered 22’ Crestliner boat by Cast Away Charters provides the mobility and the spontaneity for trailering from port to port to follow the “hot bite”.

If by chance the weather does not cooperate and should prove to be unsafe for Lake Erie fishing, guests have the option to cancel with a full refund; or to reschedule for a future day and time. The choice is yours. It’s a win-win situation!

FISHING IS CONTAGIOUS – CATCH IT WITH ME!

My Thoughts about your trip:

My goal for your day on the water is that you have a safe and enjoyable time. If I am able to provide that, I am confident that you will return to fish with me again. I cannot make the fish bite, but my promise to you is that you will not find a charter anywhere else that will work harder to help you find fish! In addition to this promise, please keep in mind that we strive to make Cast Away the most reasonably priced trip on the Great Lakes!

I prefer a day on Lake Erie with little or no wind. Everything I do is much easier and catching is usually better. Unfortunately, many fishing days can be windy and uncomfortable. Please understand this prior to booking your trip.

The one important area that I cannot stress enough — the lack of preparation to prevent sea sickness. That oversight on your part may cut your trip short! I regularly see people that refuse to take the necessary precautions because they feel it will not affect them. Trust me– it will!

I recommend the following:

  • A good nights rest
  • No greasy food for breakfast
  • Non drowsy Dramamine 1 hour before we leave the dock

If you are highly prone to motion sickness you can choose to contact your doctor and ask for a prescription medication that is more effective by far than Dramamine with no drowsy side effects. The bottom line is that you do need to plan ahead and don’t try to tough it out on your own. You’ll be very glad you did (and so will the rest of your group!) Thanks!
